America at La Villarroel

On 6 December 2023, we went to La Villarroel to see *America*.

The play tells the story of an upper-bourgeois Barcelona family that receives an unexpected visit. This encounter brings a very old secret to light and opens a journey through three centuries and three continents that have shaped the family’s history.

*America* is a play about memory, inheritance, privilege, silence and collective responsibility, with a critical look at the past and at what often remains hidden within families and history.

It was a free cultural outing to enjoy contemporary Catalan theatre and share an intense, uncomfortable and necessary story.
